Festival Security – How To Enjoy Yourself And Stay Safe – How To Enjoy Yourself And Stay Safe

With the summer in full swing it can only mean one thing – festival time! While thousands of revellers have the time of their lives, for some the experience is marred by becoming a victim of theft, having drinks spiked, or getting injured through over exuberance. With this in mind, just how can you ensure you stay safe and have nothing but a great time. Let’s take a look at a few pointers.

Don’t take too many valuables with you

It’s simple enough really but if you don’t want to be a victim of theft or mislaid goods then watch what you’re taking with you. As an example, try to avoid taking credit cards. It’s far better to take enough cash with you and separate it so that it’s not all in one place. This way if you do lose your cash in all the revelry, or become a victim to theft, then at least your weekend isn’t completely ruined. As well as credit cards, you might want to think about leaving that designer watch or expensive gadget at home too.

Never leave drinks unattended

It’s an unfortunate fact of life in this day and age but if you leave drinks unattended, especially at festivals, you run the risk of them being spiked. If you do happen to leave a drink lying around then leave it where it is and never go back for it. For the price of a new drink, it just isn’t worth the risk. Where possible try to set up camp near recognised locations close to security or drinking water stations.

Make friends and help each other

It’s also a good idea to make acquaintances with your camping neighbours. As well as making new friends it’s also a good way to ensure that things are being watched even if you’re not there. When you’re not around it’s commonplace for people to come and go at different times of the day over the course of the weekend. The more people are on your side, the more people there are to look after your belongings. Just make sure that the favour is reciprocated should the need arise.

Make sure you remain contactable

Finally make sure you remain contactable. In large areas such as festivals where you’re likely to get a large concentration of people it’s all too easy to become lost or separated from friends. With this in mind it pays to always keep your mobile phone charged up. Most festivals have mobile charging areas so there really is no excuse to run out of battery.

Don’t overdo it

When it comes to festivals there are as many people who succumb to injuries caused by bad sunburn or crowd-surfing as there are through alcohol. When the music is happening and the alcohol is flowing it’s all too easy to get carried away, so if you don’t want to have to end your experience early, then whatever you do, try to do it in moderation.
