Do I Really Need A Wedding Security Guard For My Big Day?

Hiring the services of a security guard at your wedding might not seem so strange as it sounds. In fact it’s on the increase. If you’re looking to go that extra mile to make sure that your big day goes by without a hitch then why wouldn’t you hire a security company to take care of that aspect for you?

The truth is that people tend to hire wedding security guards for a number of reasons. The venue for example might insist on having some kind of security presence. It could be that you don’t want to be plagued by gatecrashers, or have to deal with unruly guests such as jealous ex spouses, or feuding families. Alternatively it might be that you have a lot of wedding gifts on display and want to ensure that they are not a target for opportunist thieves or how about hiring wedding security for all round general peace of mind.

You might think that security guards at a wedding is a little off-putting for guests, but it couldn’t be further from the truth. Wedding security guards aren’t always big burly blokes who’ll frisk you before you enter the venue. Instead a good security company will be seemingly inconspicuous. For example a professional security company offering this service will generally hand pick their guards in accordance with the client’s wishes and requirements so they should be professional yes, but also courteous, friendly and have great people skills.

So how does it work?

Wedding security guards can be on hand to make sure that prior to the arrival of the wedding party the venue is checked and searched. Then upon the bride’s arrival the guards should be discreet but vigilant making sure that no-one gets too close to the bride who isn’t supposed to.

The security guards should also be at the reception venue first to make sure that a quick search is conducted and access is controlled by checking invites against the guest list. In addition they can be on hand to help guests find the cloak room, toilets and most importantly…the bar!

Finally, at the end of the evening some companies will also assist with booking taxis for guests if needed, making sure that everyone is okay and not stuck without transport. Finally, they might conduct a final sweep of the venue for any property (or people) left behind.

Obviously wedding security is going to be an added cost, but it isn’t simply for the rich and famous. On the contrary, even for the average couple, they’re likely to spend thousands of their hard-earned dollars on their big day so it’s understandable that they want to make sure everything goes by without a hitch.
